Petstore and iPhone App

Hey folks! I've decided to start my own online petstore.

Ruff Pets is created to promote awareness to dog owners and lovers the importance of looking after your pet's health. Raising a dog is not just a matter of spending money and playing with it from time to time, but a matter of patience, responsibility and love. Remember, a dog is a lifetime commitment. Ruff Pets imports products from Australia and many of which are hard to be found in Hong Kong. We sell a range of items from food, toys, clothes through to bedding, toiletries, and healthcare.

Ruff Pets's commitment is to make every dog a happy dog in its lifetime :)

For more information, please visit RuffPet's facebook page.

So how does this have anything to do with art & design? well...basically all the promotional items like website, banner, namecard, etc. will be created by myself and so far im halfway complete with the website. Heres a sneak peak!

I particularly like the buttons ive created at the top

Im trying out a new way to build a website this time. Im going to splice it up in photoshop and export it to dreamweaver instead of the traditional coding.

Besides starting up my own company atm, im also working on creating an iphone app for RuffPets with my Multimedia friend Twinsen.

Search Engine Optimization

Here I am studying for my User Experience Exam tomorrow, listening to our guest lecturer talking about Search Engine Optimization.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) by definition is the process of improving visibility of a website in a search engine. These process can be done natural search results. But ofcourse, in the real world, if you have a new site, how can people find it?

Google ranks a website out of its importance Newly built websites start off by having a ranking of "0". As time goes by, when the domain has been registered long enough, its rank gets upgraded. Besides waiting for time to pass, other factors such as having a lot of incoming links, outbound links and a lot of traffic will also increase your chances of having your website published in a higher place in Google's search engine.

To have your website being found, it is important to have keywords embeded into your Metadata. It is also suggested that by repeating these keywords will increase your chances of getting bumped up by Google's search engine. Ofcourse, if you start spamming the same word accross your page, Google will also bump you down. That is why, it is important to keep a density of using keywords (8% frequency usage, and appropriate usage). However, if you only use these keywords in your metadata and fail to use them in your context, Google will also not use them and thus, you will not be upgraded to the top of the search results.

So keep this in mind folks! The next time you build a website, do remember to put keywords in your metadata and USE them in your context. ;)

With World Cup going on, ive been staying up late and getting up late lately :P

Some of my name card designs are as follow:

The front of the name card is pretty much complete. Just the back where all the information goes need to be decided....If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know :)

RECENT UPDATE! :D

Been refining my website lately, added some more works to my folio page and changed a few things. Mostly the contact page now has an added form. Also decided to put an opening page for users to choose whether they want to view the site in HTML or Flash.

The Flash site should be up by the end of next month....*cross fingers*

Besides working on my site, i've also been gaming a bit more lately cause of holiday.
Been playing mostly Pokemon Heartgold and a bit of Kingdom Hearts 365Days. :D hahaha~~

Anyhow, i'll be going back to Hong Kong next month. Hoping to get my idea of opening my own T-Shirt Design company down by then.

Thats all for now :)

Blog setup COMPLETE!

Originally thought of incorporating the blog into the site, but realise that it wasnt an easy thing to do to put wordpress into flash file. So here it is, i'll just link it up externally. Works the same doesnt it?

Since my original website is all in black, i figured i'll make a contrast with the blog and make it white instead ;)

Thats all for now~ website still under construction, same goes for namecard design. Hoping to get it done before i come back from hong kong in feb! :D
